Chevy Volt batteries to be assembled at the Brownstown Business Center
General Motors Corporation “GM” has signed a seven year, 160,000 square foot lease at the Brownstown Business Center in Brownstown Township, Michigan. GM will assemble lithium-ion batteries at the facility for the Chevrolet Volt, its first extended-range electric vehicle. GM will invest $43 million in the facility and production is slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2010. The facility will be the first lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant operated by a major automaker in the United States.
